Policy Framework

We are introducing our first two proposed bills—focused on government transparency and accessibility—as part of our commitment to honest, accountable leadership. These are the beginning of a broader policy agenda, with additional proposals to follow, all grounded in integrity and responsible governance.

Bill 1: Accountability and Transparency Act

Restoring trust in government: A Tory government will introduce the Accountability and Transparency Act to ensure decisions are made openly, ethically, and in the public interest.

What This Means

Transparent Decisions

  • Public disclosure and justification for major contracts and appointments, with clear limits on sole-source deals.
  • Open Government
Stronger access-to-information laws and real-time reporting of lobbying activities, so Albertans can see who is influencing decisions.
  • Independent Oversight
Arm’s-length review of major contracts, appointments, and alleged misconduct.
  • Whistleblower Protection
Safe, independent channels for reporting wrongdoing, with full protection from retaliation.
  • Real Consequences
Fines, suspension, removal from office, and referral to authorities where laws are broken.
    No exceptions. No political immunity.

Our Commitment

Public office is a position of trust. This Act ensures that trust is earned and enforced.

Bill 2: Accessible Alberta

Practical accessibility, built into how government works: A Tory government will introduce Accessible Alberta to ensure people can fully participate in daily life in their communities, workplaces, and public services.

What This Means

Stability First

  • Restore the $200 AISH reduction and fix gaps in existing programs including ADAP by working directly with those who rely on them.
  • Accessible Government
Clear communication, barrier-free services, and improved access to public information.
  • Modern Infrastructure
Accessible public spaces, transportation, and facilities built in from the start, not added later.
  • Opportunity and Participation
Expanded access to employment and education, so more Albertans can fully contribute to the workforce and community life.

Our Commitment

Accessibility is not an add-on it is a standard. This policy ensures dignity, independence, and full participation for all Albertans while building a stronger, more welcoming province for everyone.

Policy: Protecting Rights and Limiting Use of the Notwithstanding Clause

Upholding rights. Respecting the rule of law: A Tory government will restore confidence in Alberta’s legal system by ensuring that rights and freedoms are protected - not set aside.

What This Means

  • Repeal Current Uses
Revoke all existing invocations of the notwithstanding clause and restore full Charter protections.
  • Respect the Courts
Ensure laws are tested through the courts, where evidence is examined and every Albertan has the right to be heard.
  • End Pre-emptive Use
Prohibit the use of the notwithstanding clause before judicial review has occurred.
  • Legislated Safeguards
Introduce clear legal limits on how the notwithstanding clause can be used, restricting it to exceptional circumstances only.
  • Protect Access to Justice
Ensure no one is denied the ability to challenge government decisions or defend their rights.

Our Commitment

Rights are not optional - they are foundational. A Tory government will uphold the law, respect the courts, and ensure that no government can bypass fundamental freedoms for convenience.

Policy: Building Alberta as part of a United Canada

Principled federalism. Strong advocacy. National unity. We believe Alberta’s future is strongest within Canada and that a confident province can both contribute to, and shape, the country’s direction.

What This Means

 A Clear Commitment to Canada

  • Alberta remains a proud and committed part of Canada.
  • Defending Alberta’s Interests
We will stand firmly for Alberta advocating for fair treatment, economic opportunity, and respect within Confederation.
  • Building National Alliances
Work constructively with provinces and the federal government to advance shared priorities and resolve disputes.
  • Practical Outcomes Over Rhetoric
Focus on results that strengthen Alberta’s economy, protect its jurisdiction, and improve quality of life.

Our Commitment

Alberta does not need to stand apart to stand strong. A Tory government will defend Alberta’s interests, build influence across Canada, and ensure our province plays a leading role in a united, stable, and prosperous country.
